Today is a special webinar and one that I've been looking forward to for awhile. Our supervisor, Jennifer, is discussing her career path and what lead her to working at the Law Library of Congress. She has a path similar to mine (went to law school, but didn't want to practice and then discovered the joys of law librarianship) so I am curious how she did it. Jennifer has been with the law library for a number of years, long enough so that she is able to work fully remotely from Florida, where her husband was relocated to. She is an exception to the, one that I know many of us remote interns are internally groaning about because that situation sounds incredibly ideal to us. When the Q&A section begins, many people jump on the query of how to get a government library/research job, especially remotely. Yeah, me too. I do hear some suggestions that I plug in after the webinar is over, things to add to my ongoing job search.

In addition to continuing to work on the blog posts, we are tasked with submitting a profile picture and a brief biosketch in the event that we (fingers crossed) get published. I am getting ready to submit my blog as well. It is rougher than I wanted it to be at this stage, but I've encountered some setbacks that hopefully the mentors can help me smooth out. A number of my resources seem to be unusable, which contributes to the wealth of information I am absorbed during this internship so far. Pay walls, ads, unsubstantiated news sources, all these things make for poor journalism and it has be going back to the drawing board a bit. I look forward to getting some feedback.
