Figure 1: Screenshot of my bio on the blog!
My mini bio was published on the blog! I was so excited- it's official! I am on the website now! I have been waiting all summer for this, haha.
This was our last check in, as next Friday culminates our internship program.
I have learned so much about writing this summer. I have never written in such a way before and I was surprised to learn how difficult it can be to obtain legitimate resources. So many of the sources that I have thought were solid (not just for this internship but for general purposes) turned out to have a limitation. Whether that was a pay wall or ads, I realized that so much of what I have relied on can be found with those setbacks. Also, time management and writing. I am a single parent to an almost three year old and as she gets older, I am constantly making decisions about what gets sacrificed. Do I spend more time playing with her or do I get some work done? Generally I would choose her and I would work at night, or before she woke up in the morning. It's tough. As she gets older though, she'll start school and my time will look different. That lends itself to the next question about what I have learned about law librarianship. First, I chose this career path so I could have more flexibility with raising my daughter. Law is too demanding and too taxing, but I am hoping that I can find a nice compromise with law librarianship/legal research. I have seen so many possibilities through this experience and "met" so many fascinating people with jobs I wasn't aware were possible. My thoughts haven't changed, so much as my hopes have become reinforced. I have begun applying for jobs and that has a lot to do what I have learned here.
Also I have started my own blog/website (definitely in the early stages). There are so many topics and things that I am interested in, I just decided to stop dreaming about it and start doing it. Largely thanks to this internship and these emails. So, thank you.
