Today is a catch up day. I missed a webinar last week on accessibility on the web so I watched that. I take it for granted that website accessibility is well, accessible for everyone. So this webinar was a solid reminder of the need to never become complacent when it comes to awareness and inclusivity. It reminds of yoga- when I first started practicing yoga years ago I assumed that once you achieved the pose, that was it- pose done, big ole check mark. Wrong. I quickly learned that it was unlikely that I would EVER reach the "pinnacle" pose because for every inch you stretch, there's a further inch you can go. I am reminded of that lesson as I realize that, although I consider myself highly sensitive to people's needs, there will always be room to grow.
In addition to catching up, I review the weekly schedule and plan out my webinars and research. We will be hearing back from Jennifer about our topic proposals, so I prepare myself to have lots of research to do.
The Library of Congress is offering a special webinar today for all interns and fellows across all areas- it is a panel discussion with current employees about their jobs, the paths they took to get there and any advice they have for us. It was very informative and interesting to hear all the different sub-organizations that the Library has, and the different backgrounds that people came to the Library with. It was inspiring!
